Nederburg
Brief
With a 230-year legacy, Nederburg needed a brand refresh that honoured its heritage while engaging a new generation of wine lovers. The brief was to evolve the visual identity with refinement, not reinvention, balancing tradition and modernity across digital and physical platforms.
Challenge
The challenge was to preserve Nederburg’s rich brand equity and iconic assets without alienating loyal consumers, while updating the design to feel fresh, relevant and suited to today’s digital-first world.
Solution
We crafted a hand-redrawn wordmark paired with a simplified, modernised crest that retains key historic elements for familiarity. The bold signature red anchors a premium palette of white, gold, and black, bringing sophistication and vibrancy. Authentic photography and a refined brand system create a unified presence that confidently spans bottles, digital and communications, bringing Nederburg’s legacy into the future.
With the foundational system in place, we then worked with our strategic partners, Just Design, to evolve the packaging: reducing clutter, improving hierarchy, and integrating the refreshed assets. The result is simplified labels where every element works towards brand distinctiveness.
